Oblivion Reloaded is a giant graphical update created by the TES Reloaded team. Unfortunately there is not much documentation available for setting it all up. Let’s take a dive into this mod and look at how to install Oblivion Reloaded to your very own game.

As others mentioned, the main issue with the Steam install is that games are installed to Program Files (x86). Windows UAC cause all sorts of issues for modding. The easiest solution is to move your Oblivion install to a location outside of Program Files (x86). Recommended Settings

Before you install the game files, it’s recommended to change up some game settings to ensure you’re getting the full effect of the game.

Video Settings

Open the settings menu in your game and match the following video settings:

  • Texture Size = Large
  • Fades = Max
  • View distance = Max
  • Distant objects (land, buildings, trees) = On
  • Shadows on grass = Off
  • Tree Canopy Shadows = On
  • Shadow Filtering = High
  • Specular Distance = 50%
  • HDR Lighting = On
  • Bloom Lighting = Off
  • Water Detail = High
  • Water Reflections = On
  • Water Ripples = On
  • Window Reflections = On
  • Blood Decals = High

It is extremely important that OR’s POM, SKIN and TERRAIN shaders are enabled to have shadows.

These options are less necessary, but again, will allow for maximum performance of the mod. Feel free to change at your discretion:

Disable Other Graphics Mods

It’s very important that you disable any other graphical mods you may be using. There is a high chance that they will conflict and cause issues after the installation.

File Installation & Updating

  1. Optionally, delete the Oblivion.ini file inside of the DocumentsMy GamesOblivion directory to generate a fresh, reset file.
  2. Download and install OBSE and OBMM.
  3. Extract the Oblivion Reloaded files into Oblivion’s Data folder. It should be located in a similar location to this: C:The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion GOTY DeluxeData
  4. Active the mod within OBMM.
  5. Load up your game using OBSE, this should automatically load your mods in if you own the game on Steam.

Once the mod has been installed, do NOT change any options inside of the video settings or apply a different shader package.

To update the mod, simply drag all of the new files into the Data folder we installed them in originally. It will ask you if you wish to override them. Choose yes, and reboot the game to apply the updated files.

Uninstall or Disable Temporarily

To uninstall the Oblivion Reloaded mod, simply remove all of the game’s files and delete the Oblivion.ini file to revert it back to its original state.

If you wish to only temporarily disable the mod, you can change the name of the OblivionReloaded.dll file to OblivionReloaded.dll.noload. This will disable the mod from loading until you change the name back and reboot the game.
